Money in Edo times

Michifumi Isoda wrote a book "Bushi no Kakeibo" (Household Account Book of Samurai) in 2003. He says the value of the currency in Edo times is;

  • kin(金) 1 ryo(両) = gin(銀) 75 momme(匁)
  • gin 1 momme = sen(銭) 84 mon(文)

Also, he says 1 ryo(price unit in Edo) is approximately 300,000 yen in the book.

Edo period in Japan is from 1603 to 1867.
