Michifumi Isoda wrote a book "Bushi no Kakeibo" (Household Account Book of Samurai) in 2003. He says the value of the currency in Edo times is;
- kin(金) 1 ryo(両) = gin(銀) 75 momme(匁)
- gin 1 momme = sen(銭) 84 mon(文)
Also, he says 1 ryo(price unit in Edo) is approximately 300,000 yen in the book.
Edo period in Japan is from 1603 to 1867.
kin(金) | ryo(両) | |
gin(銀) | momme(匁) | |
sen(銭) | mon(文) | |
yen | yen |
He says 1 ryo is approximately 50,000 yen, judging from the price of rice.
