When you enter a date in Western format, this form converts it to Japanese format.
In Japan, there are two ways used to say the year. One is the same as Western, called "Seireki" in Japanese. The other is called "Gengo," which changes when the emperor changes.
- Reiwa: since May 1st, 2019.
- Heisei: January 8th, 1989 - April 30th, 2019.
- Showa: December 25th, 1926 - January 7th, 1989.
- Taisho: July 30th, 1912 - December 24th, 1926.
This form supports Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa.
